Welcome back. It's December! How are you doing on your 2018 goals? Did you write them down for 2018? I'm working with a client right now and for the first time in his life he's written his goals down. I'm so excited for him because he's going to have his best year ever in 2019. Did you write your goals down this year? If you did, did you plan time on your calendar to get them done so that you've actually had some progress?
So how did you do? I'm still working on mine. There's still another month left, but it is December, and time's running out. I get excited in December because it's an opportunity to reflect on the year past, get ready for the new year. I know a lot of you may be pre-occupied with the upcoming holidays. But honestly, what'd you get done this year? What are you going to do next year?
I'm going to put some links in the post this week to some posts I did last year with some very detailed information about goals. Refer back to those old posts if needed.
But get going on your goals so you can make 2019 your best year ever! Start now by thinking about what happened this past year. What did you like? What didn't you like? Where would you like to see more progress? Get everything written down.
To get you going, below is a review of the goal categories I use. So if you don't know where to start, this will give you some food for thought.
First, your physicalness, your body - how's that doing? Are there some physical health goals that you want to work on this year? Your mind, is there some learning things that you want to do this year to make your mind stronger and better? And what about your spiritual life? What's your relationship like with your perception of the creator or however it is that you worship, and what do you want to work on there? And then lastly, emotionally. Are you feeling grounded? Are you feeling stable? Are you feeling strong? Are there some things that you need to clear out of your emotional space to make it a better year?
How are you doing in your relationships? Look at relationships in a number of different areas. Number one is your immediate family, of course. Your significant other, if you're at that point. Your kids, if you have them. And then your extended family. How are those relationships? Those are some of the closest and dearest. Invest some time to make those strong, if you didn't this year. I know I've been investing a lot in my personal relationships and making them better all the time.
Then the next layer out is your friends and people that you know. Who do you know that you need to connect with? I had a couple of friends pass away this yea, and I wish I had more time with them. But I don't anymore, in this life anyway. So take some time to connect to those friends that are close to you. And then, how are you doing in your community, in your country, and the world? What are your relationships, and how do you see yourself in this world?
What are you doing for your work, your livelihood, or your income, if you're still actively employed? If you're receiving passive income, good for you! We're going to spend some more time on that this year in some posts on building passive income. But if you're actively employed, are you happy there? What are you doing about it to make it better?
Remember to take time to have fun! Because if you're not having fun and feeling good, you're going to have all kinds of other problems in the other areas, especially your emotional self. So take time to have fun!
How are you managing your finances? What goals do you have for them in 2019? Are you maxing out your retirement plan? Are you in the best investments that you can be in? And do you need to spend some time doing some homework there and making things better?
What is your relationship with time? This has been one of the huge categories that I've been working on pretty much my whole life. But this year, I've put a special focus on time, and I'm building a better relationship with time so that we're friends instead of foes. Are you feeling like there's never enough of it? If so, then do some work this coming year on building a better relationship with time so that you have time abundance! That's the goal. If you have questions about time abundance, leave a comment in the notes here, and let's get a little discussion going.
Is your environment / lifestyle, optimized to where you are maximizing your beingness in this lifetime? If not, what do you need to clean up? I was talking to another client recently and he said, "I really need to clean some stuff out of my house." Yes! Do it. I'm in a constant state of purging. In fact, I don't even know how all the stuff gets in my house. But we're always cleaning it out, keeping things clean and simple as best we can.
But what else can you improve in your environment/lifestyle? Maybe you want to start getting regular massages or something like that to make your lifestyle a little bit better. Maybe you want to enhance your office. I love my office. I call it my playground. Make it fun!
What do you want to give back to the people in the world, the people around you, as a way to express gratitude for all the great things that you have? How can you give to others?
And then lastly, for all of those goal areas we just talked about, don't forget to celebrate when you achieve them. What are you going to do to celebrate achieving your goals in 2018? And then when you achieve your goals in 2019, what are you going to do?
Alright, that's it for this week. Have some fun thinking about 2019, but also look back on 2018. If you didn't write your goals down this year, get them written down for 2019. Read my old post on Translating Vision Into Goals for more information about the impact of actually writing down your goals. It has a huge impact as to whether or not you're actually going to achieve them or not. If they're just thoughts in your head, they're not real. So write them down, and we'll see you next week.
