The Basics of Fast, Internet Marketing

Jun 30, 2018

This week, I was reviewing a previous post from April 25th called, "How to Turn your Value into a Business for the World.", and there were seven points in that post for creating a business. I was looking over the post and thinking, "Where can I add a little more value here?"

Step number 5 in that post is about marketing, and I briefly covered slow and fast internet marketing. I said there's a lot to this topic of fast internet marketing and provided a book reference (DOTCOM SECRETS:The Underground Playbook for Growing Your Company Online).  So, this week I want to add a little more meat to the bone on this topic of fast, internet marketing.

Fast, internet marketing basically consists of paid ads that you drive into an automated, marketing funnel. The ultimate goal of the marketing funnel is to book a phone consultation to get on the phone with your potential client and invite them to your offerings.

On-line, Paid Advertising

On the paid ad front, when you're doing a consulting business or coaching business like I'm working on, the best channel for what's called business-to-consumer or B-to-C marketing is  Facebook, hands down, no doubt about it. It is the best place on-line to place ads to get in front of potential clients.

In addition to Facebook newsfeed ads, you can also place ads in Facebook Messenger as well.  There are over two billion active user on Facebook, and you can create audiences within Facebook ads to really target down to the customers that you want to have coming into your funnel.

The next best area for B-to-C marketing on-line is Instagram. Like Facebook, you can place ads in user content streams and drive traffic into your funnel from there. You can do similar ads with YouTube.

So, with Facebook newsfeed, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and YouTube paid ads, you can generate a lot of traffic. In fact, when you're just getting going, if you just start with Facebook newsfeed ads, that is going to give you probably more input into your funnel than you can handle at the outset.

Marketing Funnels

Now that you understand where to place ads, the next step is to build an automated, marketing funnel. So what is a funnel? A funnel is a series of steps you take your customer through to get to your end result - a sale. It starts with putting an ad on-line that drives traffic into some kind of free giveaway. So, the first step is to create some free content - something of value that people are attracted to. Your potential customers will click on your ad to download the free content and learn more about you.

After they click on your ad to get the free content by entering their email address, then you take them to another video which talks about a product offering that you have. This is an inexpensive product - something like $19, $27, etc. This product is something that ads value to what the customer is looking for from you, but it's at a relatively low price point.

Why is a paid product in your funnel important? It's important to have this in your funnel so that the prospects that ultimately make it onto a phone consultation with you have already qualified themselves in the sense that they're willing to pull out their credit card and buy something that you created as opposed to just getting a bunch of people that aren't really that committed on the phone with you and wasting your time. So, your funnel prospects buy a product from you, or maybe it's a series of two small products that you're offering that relate to the larger product/service you're selling such as your coaching business, your consulting business, or something else.

After the product purchases, you provide a video in your funnel that offers a free phone consultation with a button to book a time to get on the phone with you. After the booking, you can also have a questionnaire that you have customers fill out so that you can have some initial information going  into the phone consultation. Why is this important? Because getting people on the phone is the best way to find out where they're coming from, what they're looking for and how you can best tailor your services and products to what their main challenge is.

Those are the basic steps of an on-line, marketing funnel. To summarize:

  1. Create and place an ad up on one of the primary B-to-C platforms - Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, YouTube.
  2. The ad drives to a free giveaway - some kind of content that adds value to the potential customer.
  3. After the potential customer submits their email for the free gift, the next step in the funnel is a paid product - a low cost product that is around the same content area, and potentially a second product as well.
  4. After the product purchase which is designed to pre-qualify the lead, then a video offers a free phone consultation with you so you can add more value to what your prospects are looking for and see what parts of your program, your offering, your consulting service best serve each potential client.
  5. Finally, if the potential customer books a phone consultation, then they are presented with a questionnaire that will provide you with basic information on the customer's needs to help super charge the time you have with them on the phone consultation.

That's it!

Internet Marketing Technology

Now, the last piece that hangs a lot of people up when they put all this stuff together is the technology. You might be thinking, "How do I do all this tech? How do I get all this set up?" While it may seem a little daunting at first, it's actually not that bad. I did a lot of research, being the engineer that I am, early on and looked at all the different platforms and offerings on how to pull it all together. A lot of people out there are doing WordPress websites where they can then add plug-ins like Click Funnels (a funnel management tool),  Active Campaign or something like that for their CRM, and then something like Woo Commerce to handle their storefront, etc. This is a lot of moving parts and pieces!

When I looked at what most people were doing, I said, "That's ridiculous. There's gotta be an easier way!" Then, I found a tool called Kajabi. What I love about Kajabi is it's a one stop shop. You got everything in there. You can do your funnels, your CRM, your membership site, your product delivery, and your credit card clearing platform! In addition, my website and blog are all part of my Kajabi system. Finally, you can see the videos are pretty awesome because they are hosted by Wista, one of the best video hosting platforms available!

To summarize, Kajabi is a one stop shop for putting your on-line, marketing funnel and product deliver system together!
